Other Activities

There can be a lot of waiting during conventions, especially if you’re only there for a couple of guests and you’re waiting for their panel, photos, autographs, etc. So it’s fun to have activities like the Cosplay Contest and Trivia Games while waiting.

There’s also a Karaoke Party (which is free) for some of the dates, and for Stranger Things, there’s the Saturday Night Concert featuring Gaten Matarazzo, which is included with some of the ticket packages.

Other Tips

  • The biggest thing to look out for is cancellations. I’ve seen guests cancel a few days before if a work or personal conflict comes up for them. You can either get a refund (for the photo op or autograph, not the ticket) or they usually find a replacement guest. But unfortunately, it does happen.
  • They usually post the schedule on Thursday for two-day conventions. So depending on what you’ll purchase and who you want to see, you can go in whenever it is convenient for you. It depends on the schedule when photo ops and autographs are. For some actors, it’s before the “official” programming starts, it could be during and especially for the more popular actors, it’s usually after all the stage programming.
  • There are Meet & Greet tickets that you can get through an auction. Check back on the websites for when they’re available.
  • They will tell you which tickets you need to print out and which ones are fine digitally. I personally just print out all my tickets in case just to be on the safe side.
  • You will have to check-in when you get there and they give you a lanyard or wristband depending on which tickets you buy. They’re color-coded, so if you get a General Admission ticket, you can’t sneak into the Gold section. Also, every time you enter the area where the stage is, they’ll check you have your lanyard or wristband on, so don’t forget to put the lanyard back on if you take it off for a photo!
  • You don’t have to cosplay, but it’s fun to dress up in a costume even if you don’t want to be in the contest. There are no wardrobe constrictions, though.
  • If you’re not staying at the hotel, then you might have to pay for parking each day. Depending on the venue, some of them have free parking. You can get a voucher that gives you a discount for parking since you’re there for the convention, so make sure you ask for it when you check in that way you pay a bit less for parking. It’s usually around $20.
  • Have fun! These are rare experiences and even if they hold another convention next year, you can’t guarantee the same guests. So have a good time and maybe make some new friends!

I hope this guide is helpful and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. These are really fun and great experiences, I’m a big convention-goer so I would definitely recommend giving it a try!
