Friends is leaving Netflix very soon. Unfortunately, the final day to watch the series on Netflix will be Jan. 31, 2019, New Year’s Eve.

You only have one week left to stream Friends on Netflix. Friends is scheduled to leave Netflix on Jan. 1, 2020, meaning the final day to watch the series is on New Year’s Eve.

Although the precise time the show leaves Netflix is unconfirmed, we believe the series leaves Netflix at midnight PT on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Three hours after the ball drops in New York City, Friends will disappear from the streaming service.

The hit comedy series starring Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBland has been available to stream on Netflix for five years. The streaming service added all 10 seasons of Friends way back in 2015.

Originally, the show was supposed to leave Netflix four years from the date it was added, which would have been Jan. 1, 2019. The show even had a warning that it would be leaving the streaming service at the end of last year. Eventually, Netflix and Warner Bros. TV, which owns the rights to the series, were able to come to a very expensive agreement to keep the show on Netflix for all of 2019.

After the series leaves Netflix, it will be moving to HBO Max, which is the new Warner Media streaming service that is scheduled to launch in the spring of 2020. That means you won’t be able to stream the series for a few months.

I’ve seen a lot of people blaming Netflix for the show leaving, and I don’t think that’s really all that fair. Netflix likely paid more a lot to license the series for five years. And, they would have probably kept paying roughly $100 million per year to keep licensing the series into the future.

Warner Bros. TV is licensing the rights to its parent company’s streaming service for five years for $425 million. That’s more than Netflix would and probably could have paid.

According to Binge Clock, there’s still time to watch Friends on Netflix. The series takes roughly five days to stream, so you can binge-watch your way through Friends if you’re doing, basically, nothing else this week!

We’ll remind you to watch Friends one last time before the series leaves the streaming service.
