5 good Netflix shows to watch on Christmas Eve

5. Home for Christmas
There’s a good reason why the holiday times are called “cuffing season”. You want to avoid awkward questions from your aunt about why you’re still single, then it’s the perfect time to get a holiday romance down on lock. While it could immediately fizzle out following Jan. 1, anything to avoid those pitying stares from the family, right?
Netflix’s Norwegian original, Home for Christmas, captures that relatable struggle that the perpetually single all face around the holiday. Joanna (Ida Elise Broch), a 30-year-old single woman, is sick of the constant pressure from her family to find a boyfriend. On a visit home, Joanne blurts out that she has found a boyfriend and will bring him home first Christmas. With 24 days to find someone, anyone, Joanne races against the clock to bring “him” home for Christmas.
With a charming cast, relatable premise, and a solid creative team, Home for Christmas is an absolute delight from start to finish. If you’re tired of the Hallmark fare again and again, then Home for Christmas takes the familiar premise and gives it equal amounts of humor and heart. It elevates the whole Hallmark cheese machine into something pretty delightful.
Who knows? A viewing of this and maybe your family will stop pestering you on the relationship status.
