In general, sequels aren’t as good as origianls, but Home Alone 2 lives up to the expectations set by the first film.
The movie takes place a year after Kevin was left home accidentally while his family rushed off to Paris. In Home Alone 2, Kevin makes it to the airport with his family, but he is busy trying to put batteries into his voice recorder and loses sight of his father. Once the batteries have been replaced, he sees who he thought was his father, but it’s a stranger wearing a similar coat to his dad. Kevin follows him on to the plane that is flying to New York, while his family is on the plane that is flying to Florida.
Luckily, the bag that had the batteries also has his father’s credit cards and cash. Kevin books a room in New York and tours the city. He meets Mr. Duncan (Eddie Bracken), a toy shop owner who tells him that the day’s proceeds go to a children’s hospital. Kevin tries to visit an Uncle who lives in New York, but they were out of town while their townhouse is renovated. He is enjoying himself until The Wet Bandits find him. It seems they have escaped from prison, and now they not only want revenge, but they plan to rob the toy store.
Using his uncle’s townhouse, Kevin once again plans to foil the thieves who are now calling themselves “The Sticky Bandits.”
