Who would win in a duel between Baby Yoda, aka The Child, from Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Eleven from Netflix’s Stranger Things?

The Mandalorian and Stranger Things are, along with Game of Thrones, the biggest shows of 2019. Baby Yoda and Eleven are the fan-favorites of their respective shows, and they each have telekinetic abilities.

The similarities between their powers got me thinking: who would win in a duel between these characters? And, pretty quickly, I decided Eleven would have the upper hand in a battle, assuming she can still use her powers.

Eleven has much more experience using her powers and stopping monsters, even though she is many years younger than The Child. Remember, Eleven has stopped the Mind Flayer, which is arguably much more powerful than anything we have seen in The Mandalorian so far. And, she’s done it twice, in addition to stopping the Demogorgon.

She has much more of a grasp on her powers and limitations, as well. She can use them, at least we thought she could, without becoming too fatigued. That all changed in Stranger Things 3 when Eleven lost all of her powers at the end of the season. Even with the limit on her previously thought to be infinite ability, she still has much more power in the tank than Baby Yoda, who, while strong, passed out after stopping the big space rhino early in the series.

At full strength, this is obviously a very interesting duel. Baby Yoda, if it learns how to access The Force, has much more power available than Eleven. As far as we know, Eleven does not have anything like The Force to draw from and learn from. Instead, she is basically on her own to figure out the extent of her powers.

So, Baby Yoda definitely has the possibility to be much stronger than Eleven. It’s still early, though, and we know not all Force-sensitive individuals become cream-of-the-crop Jedis, which is what it would likely take to stop Eleven.

If they dueled at full strength now, Eleven would definitely win. Baby Yoda might get a few shots in on Eleven, but it’s bound to fall asleep shortly after, which would give Eleven the opening to win the duel. Eleven’s no slouch, though. The power it took to close the gate in Stranger Things 2 is far, far away from anything that Baby Yoda is capable of.

In the future, depending on how things go for the little green thing, it could be a lot more interesting, especially if it lives up to the hype of its ancestor, Yoda, the best Jedi of all time as far as I’m concerned.

More likely, though, Eleven and Baby Yoda would probably become friends and allies. There are many similarities between the two characters and their origins so far. Eleven was taken prisoner and tortured and used for her abilities. It appears that’s what’s left of the Empire wants to do with Baby Yoda. We don’t really know where Baby Yoda was and has been for the first 49 years of its life, but that’s likely to be explored in the future.

The final episode of The Mandalorian season 1 airs on Friday, Dec. 27. Stranger Things is back for season 4 on Netflix in 2021!
