1. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms didn’t score with critics (or audiences, for that matter) when it premiered in theaters, but every movie always receives a pick-me-up and a new audience when it goes to streaming. In the case of this movie, I admit I didn’t watch it in theaters, so I can’t compare the experience. But watching it on streaming is a breeze.

For starters, streaming allows you to pause a movie whenever you’d like, which is very helpful during the holidays as we tend to be busy or have family over. And as much as some critics didn’t love it, it’s a magical film! My recommendation is for children over the age of six, they’ll be able to understand and follow along to the fantasy better than those who are younger.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms follows Clara (Mackenzie Foy) as she holds a one-of-a-kind key that unlocks another world she never knew existed. In this world are four realms, the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, and the Land of Sweets, it all sounds like a children’s dream, does it not? But the fourth realm only holds secrets and darkness, and Clara and Phillip must journey there to face Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren) and restore peace on all realms.

The movie also stars Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman and others! If you’re tired of hearing about the Christmas spirit and season of giving, but still want to watch something with the holiday-theme and a splash of adventure, this is it!
