Netflix confirms The Christmas Chronicles 2 is coming in 2020

The Christmas Chronicles 2 starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn is coming to Netflix for Christmas 2020!

We have some great news for fans of the Netflix original holiday film The Christmas Chronicles!

Netflix announced The Christmas Chronicles 2 is officially in the works. The sequel will be added to Netflix during the holiday season of 2020. We’re only one year away from the release of the film.

We have more good news! The streaming network shared a poster from the film, more like a holiday card, that included Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. It looks like Russell and Hawn will be back for the sequel!

Earlier this year, news broke that The Christmas Chronicles 2 was officially happening. Production was scheduled to start in the fall of 2019 with Russell returning as Santa Claus. Unfortunately, Netflix didn’t confirm the news then. They are confirming it now.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, The Christmas Chronicles 2 will also see Kate Pierce return as Darby, along with Russell, Hawn, Judah Lewis, and Kimberly Williams Paisley from the first movie. Jahzir Bruno also stars in the sequel.

In the sequel, Santa, Darby, and company team up to stop Belshnickel, a creature trying to stop Christmas, according to the report. Netflix also has found its villain for the film. Deadpool 2 star Julian Dennison will play Belshnickel in the sequel!

Netflix is crushing it when it comes to making holiday movies. The Christmas Chronicles was one of the first major holiday hits, and it’s only kickstarted invest in the genre. We’re seeing the benefits with movies like Klaus, Let It Snow, and more.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 should be even bigger than the first film. By now, hundreds of millions have seen The Christmas Chronicles, and most will probably watch when the sequel comes out. More than 20 million people watched the film in the first week of its release. That has to be one of the biggest Netflix movies so far. The streaming network doesn’t usually announce viewership numbers very oten.
