9. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

Maybe you’re looking for something that’s a little more classic Disney with a Christmas twist? That’s where Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas comes in! The film starts in the present day where everyone is talking about the Christmas before. But instead of everyone telling their own version, Mrs. Potts begins to tell the story of what happened after the Beast saved Belle from the wolves.

The movie continues in a flashback with the enchanted objects all trying to figure out how to have Belle and the Beast to fall in love. Belle is excited for Christmas but the Beast…not so much. It is the anniversary of the day he was turned into the Beast and he has forbidden anyone from celebrating.

Belle lets this slide for a moment and asks the Beast if he’d like her to teach him how to ice skate. But while the other enchanted objects are all for Belle and the Beast falling in love, Forte, the organ wants to stay an object and doesn’t want the two to fall in love or break the curse.

His first action is to tell Fife to interrupt the couple from ice skating which causes them to crash. But they just brush themselves off. The problem comes when they make snow angels and Beast sees his figure in the snow. He becomes enraged and walks off to the castle.

Belle has other ideas. She thinks Christmas will help brighten the Beast mood, so she creates a book for him. Belle, along with the enchanted objects, also go the highest tower and pull out all the Christmas decorations. While they decorate, Belle sings about hope.  As you can probably guess, the Beast is none too pleased.

Does Belle give up? No, she is having none of his nonsense and tells all the enchanted objects that they’ll have Christmas with or without the Beast. She and Axe go look for a Christmas tree and while away, The Beast finds his gift. Surprised he has one, he goes to Forte and tells him to compose a song for Belle.

But when the Beast leaves the room, Forte plays enchanting music attracting Belle to the room. Forte then tells her the Beast’s favorite part of Christmas is the tree (a lie!) and tells her to go to the Black Forest to find one. But that would mean breaking her promise to never leave the castle. Wanting to make the best of Christmas for the Beast, she goes anyway with Chip and Axe.

Beast, not knowing what’s going on, waits for Belle and is further brainwashed by Forte making him destroy all the decorations. He then goes to look for Belle.

While looking for a tree, Belle almost drowns but is saved by the Beast. But it’s not the Beast she knows. He locks her up once again, but that still doesn’t stop Belle from appreciating Christmas.

Meanwhile, still under Forte’s spell, Forte tells the Beast to destroy the enchanted rose. But when one of the petals falls on Belle’s gift to the Beast, the spell is broken and the Beast comes back to himself. Upset by what he’s done, he releases Belle immediately and asks for forgiveness.

Forte ends up pissed that his plans failed and decides to kill the couple. Luckily, he’s stopped and  Belle and the Beast are able to celebrate a magical holiday with all their friends. The story is finished with the movie coming back to the present where the Prince and Belle are together.
