14. Richie Rich’s Christmas Wish

Richie Rich’s Christmas Wish is the holiday sequel to the original film titled Richie Rich that starred Macauley Culkin. This film has Richie played by David Gallagher but the same premise of Richie being the world’s richest kid still stands. But this time, it’s Christmas Eve and Richie is ready to spend the day with his friends.

He gets a bit sidetracked though when he heads to visit his home scientist (we all have one of these right?), Professor Keanbean played by Eugene Levy. The Professor shows Richie his newest invention, the wishing machine that works only on Christmas Eve. But the machine doesn’t work as expected. Richie first asks for a big pie and gets a pig sty instead.

Richie doesn’t let this stop his fun though. He later dresses up as an elf and along with his trusty butler and friend, Cadbury, rides on a sleigh to deliver presents to the nearby orphanage. But things go wrong when Richie’s spoiled cousin, Reggie takes the controls.

He speeds the sleigh through town, destroying most of it in the process. The sleigh explodes, burning all the presents and when Richie goes for help, he sees that the town has turned against him due to the rumors Reggie’s been spreading.

Back at his house, Richie goes into the laboratory and accidentally uses the wish machine to wish he was never born. As you can probably guess, he’s then shown what life would be like if he never existed.

But once he sees how bad the world would be, he has to find a way back to the real world. If you’re looking for a lighter, more kid-friendly version of the It’s a Wonderful Life story, this is definitely one worth checking out.
