15. I’ll Be Home for Christmas

Going home for Christmas is not the easiest thing for a lot of people, but for Jake, an 18-year-old who hasn’t been home since his mother died, this year he finally has some incentives to be there. His dad has offered him a 1957 Porsche if he is there by 6 p.m.on Christmas Eve. His girlfriend, Allie, is also planning on him taking her home with him as she is looking forward to a traditional Christmas.

But plans change when Eddie, Jake’s nemesis, and his friends attack Jake and leave him stranded in the middle of the desert dressed like Santa Claus. Why do they do this? Because Jake didn’t get the exam answers for them. While Jake is stuck, Eddie gives Allie a ride to New York after she thinks Jake didn’t bother to show up.

If he wants the car and to get to Allie back, he has three days to get to New York. But with his ingenuity and a bit of luck, he’s able to catch a lift with a few willing people. That doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing. He deals with the police, a group of talkative old ladies, and plenty of people wanting his help. Eventually, though, he decides to play into the Santa role and helps whoever he can along with way.

At one point, Jake does meet up with Allie and Eddie, but when Allie learns about the deal with the car, she accuses him of caring more about that than her and storms off. So Jake and Eddie are stuck with each other for the next part of the journey. But that doesn’t last long. Eddie inevitably throws Jake out of the car in Wisconsin.

Even when Jake gets an airline ticket to New York, he can’t get on the plane because he had no ID. Not seeing any other options, he stows away in a dog kennel underneath the plane. From there, he steals a sleigh and makes it to his house just in time. Will Allie accept him back and will he take the car? You’ll have to watch I’ll Be Home for Christmas to find out.
