3. Noelle

Not many Christmas films talk about Santa having kids, but in Noelle, he has two, Noelle and Nick. And since Nick is older, when Kris Kringle decides to retire, he takes over the helm. The problem comes when, seeing how stressed he is, Noelle tells Nick to take a break before takes the reins (sorry, not sorry for that pun) and he never returns.

Charged by the elves with ruining Christmas, Noelle goes beyond the North Pole for the first time to find her brother and get him back before Christmas. While gone, the elves appoint Noelle’s cousin, Gabriel, who usually runs Kringle’s tech support, to fill in.

Noelle takes her childhood nanny, Elf Polly along with her and they end up in Phoenix in the middle of a mall. After a mishap in a Petco and after encountering lots of naughty people, Noelle hires a private eye, Jake, to help her find her brother.

Little does she know that while she’s been gone, Gabriel has been using his tech-y knowledge to calculate that there are only 2,738 nice kids in the world and the rest he plans on sending a “do better next year” email. The elves and Mrs. Claus are none too pleased.

Back on the search for her brother, Noelle figures out he is working at a local yoga studio (because why not?). But when she finds him, it becomes clear that Nick has no plans to go back to the North Pole or to be the next Santa. What will she do?

If you’re looking for a new spin on the Santa story, Noelle is the perfect modern version to check out. And with Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader as Noelle and Nick, respectively, it’s sure to be a fun ride.
