Noelle is Disney Plus’s first live-action, original movie. The story follows brother and sister, Nick and Noelle, during their first Christmas after their father passing away. Minor spoilers below!

In Noelle, the new Christmas movie on Disney Plus, the role of Santa Claus is passed down to different generations of men in the Kringle family. Bill Hader’s character, Nick, is the next in line to become Santa Claus. His younger sister, Noelle (Anna Kendrick), is told to help her brother become the next great Santa Claus. Nick does not want the job and performs poorly during his Santa simulations.

Kendrick’s character persuades her brother to take a break and go somewhere warm for the weekend before Christmas. Nick takes her advice and decides to travel to Arizona. He falls in love with Phoenix and decides not to go back to the North Pole. His absence leads to panic at the North Pole because everyone believes Christmas is ruined without Nick present. To make sure her brother is back in time for Christmas and the biggest day of the year for all at the North Pole, Noelle leaves on a rescue mission to find Nick and save Christmas.

Noelle takes the reindeer-driven sleigh and her wise elder Elf Polly to search for her brother Nick in Arizona. Noelle receives help from a private investigator named Jake, who is going through a difficult time having his first Christmas as a divorced dad. Noelle and Jake develop a friendship during the investigation. Noelle encourages Jake to be open to changing Christmas traditions. After searching for a while, Noelle finds Nick and convinces him to go back to the North Pole.

Nick still isn’t willing to take the job, and Noelle is the better pick to fill Santa’s shoes. Eventually, it’s decided that Noelle should deliver the Christmas presents instead of her reluctant brother. Noelle happily accepts the responsibility and handles the gift delivery on Christmas day.

This Disney Plus holiday movie is a fun Christmas movie to watch. Kendrick’s character is a definite mix of Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf from Elf and Amy Adams Giselle from Enchanted. One of her goofier moments involves her eating sunscreen when Jake gifted her a bottle. Like most Christmas movies, many may find this one to be a little tacky. But if you love Christmas, oh my garland, you will enjoy the snow-filled landscapes, her festive outfits, and the non-stop holiday humor.
