Let It Snow: Netflix’s new Christmas movie is must-watch this holiday season
Let It Snow is a new Netflix Christmas movie that feels like a teen version of Love Actually. If you are a fan of cheesy rom-com Christmas movies, you will adore Let It Snow.
Netflix Christmas movies continue to pick up new viewers, and Let It Snow, a new Netflix original, will surely grab the attention of many.
Based on the novel of the same name with stories by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle, Let It Snow is a teen rom-com with a star-studded cast and intertwining stories set in a small town in the Midwest.
In Let It Snow, the small town of Laurel, Illinois, gets an unexpected snowstorm on Christmas Eve. Friendships and relationships are tested among several high school seniors. In one story, Tobin (Mitchell Hope) longs to be with his longtime best friend, Angie (Kiernan Shipka), who seems oblivious to his affection. Tobin spends the day stuck hanging out with Angie and her friend, JP (Matthew Noszka), a college guy.
In another relationship, best friends Dorrie (Liv Hewson) and Addie (Odeya Rush) get into an argument about Addie’s boyfriend. Addie’s boyfriend isn’t responding to any of her text messages, and she’s convinced he is going to leave her for another girl. Addie goes off on her own and befriends the town’s eccentric lady who is covered in tin foil. Dorrie goes to work at Waffle House and runs into the girl she likes. But her crush seems hesitant to return any affection in public.
In the last storyline, Julie (Isabela Merced) runs into pop star Stuart (Shameik Moore) on a train. They spend the day together, and Julie expresses her struggles with deciding what to do after high school. The plot that ties the group together is Keon’s plan to throw a great Christmas party.

There’s an abundance of Christmas activities happening during the snowstorm. There’s singing, dancing, sledding, and even a less-than-usual Christmas play. Some of the fun falls flat though, because none of the storylines are particularly strong.
For instance, the Tin Foil Lady, played by Joan Cusack, seems like a major character at first, but there’s no character development for her. All we know is she drives around town in a tow truck, and she likes to wear tin foil. Her only purpose seems to be getting several of the characters from one point to another.
But there’s great chemistry among the entire cast, and even though the plot isn’t incredibly unique, the dialogue makes Let It Snow a lighthearted watch this holiday season. If you’re in the mood for an easygoing Christmas film, grab a warm blanket and enjoy watching Let It Snow.
Stay tuned for more Christmas movies coming to Netflix later this holiday season!
