13. Holiday Rush

Holiday Rush is another holiday rom-com you might want to put on your list this year. The film begins with popular DJ Rashon “Rush” Williams losing his job right before the Christmas season. Not knowing what to do with four kids with four very expensive Christmas lists, he moves in with his Aunt Jo, and begins to make a plan on how to get back on the radio.

To get back on the air, his producer and his aunt decide to help him buy another station in New York. How? They plan on downsizing and living the simple life so they can save up the funds to get him back to what he loves. At first, his kids are not in love with the plan. They are used to a certain way of living, but if they want that life, their dad needs a job.

As the family works to save up the money, Rashon reconnects with his children and the family learns the joy of simply being together. Things and material possessions don’t matter as much as they may have thought.

The film stars Romany Malco, Sonequa Martin-Green, Darlene Love,La La Anthony, Stormi Maya, Deon Cole, and Tamala Jones. And, because it’s listed as a romance, it’s a pretty good guess that Rashon and his producer, Roxy (played by Martin-Green) will realize they have feelings for each other. So not only is it a fun family movie, it’s also got a little bit of love too.

You can watch it when it hits Netflix on Nov. 28!
