16. The Holiday Calendar

The Holiday Calendar follows a struggling photographer, Abby Sutton, after she receives an advent calendar from her grandfather. But it’s not just a normal advent calendar, it’s magical! How is it magical? It can predict the future!

At first, Abby doesn’t think anything of the calendar. It’s boring but she takes it from her grandfather anyways and opens the first door on Dec 1. The first item is a Christmas tree. During the day, she meets a guy named Ty after his tree falls off the top of his car and she stops to help. After that, things keep happening and she realizes that the little items behind the doors mean something good will happen to her. She begins dating Ty after that first incident.

Needing to tell someone about the magic calendar, she tells her best friend, Josh. At first, he is hesitant to believe her, but when he buys her a pair of boots and she shows him the little boots she took from the calendar, he starts to believe. She also tells him about Ty which, unbeknownst to Abby, makes Josh jealous.

Abby then pulls a little camera out of the calendar and gets a call that someone wants her to be the photographer for an upcoming Christmas play. She cannot believe her luck.

She has her best friend, a new boyfriend, and a new job. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a fun, magical romantic film. If you’re looking for a movie to get you in the holiday spirit with an interesting premise, this might be exactly what you’re looking for.
