V-Wars starring Ian Somerhalder is coming to Netflix in December

V-Wars starring Ian Somerhalder and Adrian Holmes is coming to Netflix in December 2019. Check out the first look images at the new Netflix original series.

Netflix finally shared the release date for its upcoming original series V-Wars starring Ian Somerhalder. On Twitter, Netflix announced V-Wars will be released on Thursday, Dec. 5. We shared the tweet below!

The streaming network also shared the first look at the series on Twitter, as well.

The new Netflix series is based on the comic book of the same name by Jonathan Maberry. Somerhalder stars in the series along with Adrian Holmes, Jacky Lai, Peter Outerbridge, Kimberly-Sue Murray, and Kyle Breitkopf.

We shared the synopsis below, via Netflix:

"Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these “vampires.” Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires."

That sounds awesome! We’ve seen a ton of zombie apocalypse shows lately. Let’s open things back up with a great vampire apocalypse show, and V-Wars might just be the show to do that!

There’s no doubt this show will be one of the biggest Netflix shows of the year. This series checks off two big boxes for Netflix subscribers. First of all, Somerhalder starred in The Vampire Diaries, a very popular supernatural show on Netflix. All eight seasons of the show are streaming on Netflix, and the show continues to grow in popularity.

Fans would watch anything Somerhalder was in, but it’s going to be even bigger because it’s another supernatural show with vampires! That’s a double-whammy for Netflix, and there’s going to be a lot of fans tuning in to watch this show.

It’s a bummer that the show wasn’t finished by Halloween. It would have been great to roll the series out this week, but it is what it is. Plus, there are dozens of Halloween shows and movies to watch right now. It makes to wait a little bit and make sure viewers are ready and have time to binge-watch the first season of a show like this.

As of right now, it doesn’t look like Netflix has renewed the series for season 2. Based on the all-star cast and excellent story and premise, this show should have no problems being picked up for another season. There’s so much to like about it already, and we haven’t seen any episodes!
