Riverdale’s first Halloween episode airs tonight on The CW! “Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween” should be the most action-packed episode of the season so far!
The much-hyped Halloween episode of Riverdale has arrived! The episode, titled “Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween,” airs tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 8/7 C on The CW.
In the episode, we’ll likely get our first look at what’s on that videotape Betty and Jughead found outside the Ex-Cooper House at the end of “Chapter Sixty: Dog Day Afternoon.” We’ll also get to experience Halloween Riverdale-style for the first time, and that’s super exciting.
We’ve already seen a few of our characters in costume, including Cheryl and Toni as Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Archie and Mad Dog also dressed up as classic Archie Comics heroes, Pureheart the Powerful and The Shield.
Here’s the synopsis for the new episode of the series, via The CW:
"HALLOWEEN IN RIVERDALE — When ominous videotapes begin appearing on doorsteps across Riverdale, widespread fear quickly returns to the town. At Stonewall Prep, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) learns about a series of mysterious disappearances that have occurred to former students at the school. Meanwhile, Archie’s (KJ Apa) plan to create a safe space for the town’s kids gets derailed when some unwanted visitors crash their Halloween party.Elsewhere, Veronica (Camila Mendes) comes face to face with trouble, while Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) past comes back to haunt her. Lastly, a haunting at Thistlehouse rocks Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) to their core."
At SDCC 2019, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced the news that we’ll be seeing a Halloween episode this season, and he teased a little bit about what it will be about. The synopsis seems to hint at a spooky night at Thistlehouse, but we’re looking at the Ex-Cooper House to be where most of the action is.
Aguirre-Sacasa said Betty is at home passing out candy when something bad happens. I’m guessing it’s related to the Black Hood or the Gargoyle King. There are still a few of the responsible parties at large. Yes, I’m expecting the “Lollipop” ringtone!
Aguirre-Sacasa also teased that someone will die in the Halloween episode! Who will it be? We’ll have to find out tonight!
It looks like there’s going to be a lot of action in this new episode, so get ready for a good one!
If you live outside of the United States, you can watch Riverdale’s Halloween episode on Netflix on Halloween. New episodes of the hit series are added to the streaming service outside of the US the day after they air on The CW.
Unfortunately, Netflix US viewers will have to wait a little while longer to watch the Halloween episode. Riverdale season 4 will be added to Netflix this spring following the season finale. The new season will be available on Netflix exactly eight days after the season finale airs on The CW. At the time of publishing, that looks to be about mid-May.
Stay tuned for more news about Riverdale season 4, and enjoy the Halloween episode!
