Bird Box opens with a mysterious force killing people if they look at it. Whatever this force is, it influences people to kill themselves.

In the film, Sandra Bullock’s character, who happens to be preganant, witnesses others killing themselves. And, she does her very best to not look at whatever it is. She eventually is able to seek sanctuary in a house with other survivors, which includes another pregnant woman. Unfortunately, they let in an apparent survivor who is actually influenced by the mysterious force, and the other woman dies, leaving Sandra Bullock with her own son and the dead woman’s daughter.

Bullock later learns there is a sanctuary that is safe from the mysterious force, but they will have to make the journey completely blindfolded.

I have to admit I was rather dubious when this movie first came out. How on earth can anyone make any journey blindfolded especially with two small children in tow? But, I love Sandra Bullock and some of her other movies such as Speed, Miss Congeniality, and While you were sleeping. So, I thought I would put my skepticism aside and watch it, and I am glad I did.

The first thing that grabs you about this movie is that you never see whatever this force is. You see a breeze blowing through the trees, you hear a sound to let you know that it is coming, but you never actually see it. This invisible force is downright spooky and eerie.

It really is worth watching, and it has all the thrills that makes it a good choice for a Halloween weekend viewing.
