Based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Adam Nevill, The Ritual tells the story of a reunion of four college friends after the death of another friend. They decide to hike in Northern Sweden.

During the hike, one of the friends damages his leg and cannot continue. They take a shortcut through the forest. Unfortunately, they’re lead into a part of the woods protected by an ancient evil that stalks them through the woods.

The Ritual is original in its plot and story. I love good horror movies, genuine scary movies where the suspense builds and you don’t know how the movie is going end or who the monster is. It doesn’t rely on gore and guts, and this movie is that.

It is suspenseful and eerie, and you have no idea who will live or who will die. It is a great underrated Netflix movie that deserves to be watched this Halloween, especially if you haven’t seen it yet.
