Space Force: Netflix’s star-studded comedy starts filming

Netflix’s Space Force starring Steve Carell and John Malkovich has started production. The series premieres in 2020 only on Netflix.

The Netflix original series Space Force starring Steve Carell has started filming! The streaming network announced the news on Twitter along with an image of Carell in character.

The details about this series are being kept under wraps, but we are learning more and more about what could be Netflix’s best comedy ever. Earlier this year, Netflix announced Carell and Greg Daniels, the creator and showrunner of The Office (US), had created Space Force in a teaser trailer and series announcement.

The series tells the story of a group tasked with creating and managing the Space Force, a new branch of the US military, according to Netflix.

The series will likely be released on Netflix in 2020, assuming everything goes smoothly. Check out the tweet announcing the news below!

This series has as good of a cast for a Netflix comedy ever. Carell is a legend for his work as Michael Scott on The Office, which is one of the most popular shows on Netflix. It appears he will be playing Gen. Mark R. Naird in the series.

Carell isn’t the only big name attached to the project. John Malkovich, Ben Scwartz, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers, Alex Sparrow, and Jimmy O. Yang.

I have no idea what this show will be like or what the characters will be like, but I’m so excited. I’m really pulling for a The Office-style comedy where the team is led by a woefully unprepared boss and the general morale is very low. I feel like that’s the way to go with a show like this.

We still don’t know when exactly to expect this series. Production starting is a great sign, though. It probably means we’ll see the series on Netflix within the next year. Obviously, there’s a lot of hype about this show for good reason, and I think Netflix will want to do a fair amount of promotion to get everyone ready for this series.

With The Office leaving Netflix in 2021, hopefully, this series will help dull the sting of one of the best shows leaving the streaming service.
