In the Shadow of the Moon hits Netflix on Sept. 27 as part of the streaming services’ Netflix and Chills event. The thriller was directed by Jim Mickle, known for his work on We Are What We Are, Cold in July, and the TV series, Hap and Leonard.

The movie is set in 1988 and follows a Philadelphia police officer, Thomas Lockhart (Holbrook) who investigates the case of a female serial killer who resurfaces every nine years. The crimes defy any kind of logic which causes the cop to become obsesses with the case. His obsession then affects every aspect of his life and threatens everything.

The thriller went into development in early 2018 and Netflix snatched up the rights to the project. Prior to its release on the streaming service, In the Shadow of the Moon will have its official premiere at Fantastic Fest.

Despite being classified as a thriller, the team behind the movie promise that it interweaves a number of genres. The ’80s setting and grim tone of the film will make for a perfect title to put on your Halloween binge list. It’s no question why Netflix scheduled it on their fall release schedule.
