The Conjuring was in development for over a decade before the project came together. Based on the finished product, the supernatural horror film was worth the wait. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga starred as the famous paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The movie takes place in 1971 when a husband and wife, Roger and Carolyn Perron (Livingston and Taylor), move into an old farmhouse in Rhode Island with their five young daughters. During the first few nights in the house, the family starts to witness supernatural occurrences. Carolyn then contacts known demonologists, Ed and Lorraine, for assistance.

After early investigations, the trained professionals learn that the witch, Bathsheba, might be haunting the property. They then set up a night of investigations to get to the bottom of the house’s supernatural threats. Unfortunately, they soon become targets during their investigation.

The Conjuring launched a successful film franchise known as The Conjuring Universe. The movie itself spawned a sequel in 2016 and another is on the way in 2020. The franchise also includes the Annabelle films, The Nun, and The Curse of La Llorona.
