20. Scream 2

Release Year: 1997

Directed By: Wes Craven

Cast: Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jamie Kennedy, Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O’Connell, Jada Pinkett, Liev Schreiber

Following the success of Scream the year prior, the studio fast-tracked a sequel for a late 1997 release. Wes Craven returned to direct the sequel which was developed by Kevin Williamson, the mind behind the original movie. Scream 2 is officially making its way to Netflix on Oct, 1 in time for their Halloween viewing event.

This time around, Sidney (Campbell) goes off to college as she put her harrowing past behind her. She tries to reinvent her life with those who don’t treat her like some kind of victim. Unfortunately, she can’t fully escape because a new movie comes out based on the events in her hometown. When murders start up again, Sidney is once again put in the spotlight.

The killer in Scream 2 has a motive based on connections to the killer in the first movie. Sidney has allies on her side like her close friend, police officer Dewey Riley (Arquette) and enemy-turned-friend, Gale Weathers (Cox). Despite another tragic turn of events, this won’t be the last of Sidney or Neve Campbell in the Scream franchise.
