The Office: Where would the documentary’s subjects be in 2019?

Stanley Hudson

As for Stanley (Leslie David Baker), he’s more than likely still in Florida. He retired at the series’ close and only returned to Scranton for the documentary’s premiere. Stanley is the least likely to have anything interesting happen to him, though it would be hilarious to find out that he became extremely wealthy by pure luck.

Phyllis Vance

Phyllis Vance (Phyllis Smith) is probably at the same desk she’s been at for ten years. She was content with Stanley’s replacement (Malcolm Barrett) but Phyllis is nearly as old as Stanley. Because of the age factor, it might be time for her to retire. Then again, being close to Vance Refrigeration has always been important to Phyllis so working at Dunder Mifflin until her husband retires is just as possible too.

Meredith Palmer

The supposedly alcoholic Meredith (Kate Flannery) is one character who has us a bit stumped. Meredith’s testimonial in the finale revealed that she was working to earn a Ph.D. while being studied as one of the documentary’s subjects, raising the question of where she’d go afterward.

In all likelihood, Meredith probably went back to her life as an accountant. Although, earning her Ph.D. might have changed things. For all we know, she’s set up for a promotion now that her degree is completed. Dwight might even be willing to give it to her if Meredith’s skills are applicable to her current position.

Andy Bernard

Andy (Ed Helms) surprised fans the most by becoming a speaker at Cornell University. He appeared to drop off the map after his terrible audition tape went viral but Andy lucked out in the aftermath.

Today, Andy is presumably still doing the same. One can’t help, however, wonder if the Nard-Dog tried to relive his college years and joined another acapella group. Andy’s old chapter didn’t hold him in too high esteem when he and another member hashed out an old dispute, but as a school administrator, they’d probably be more welcoming to him.

Erin Hannon

The finale made everyone’s hearts sink when Erin (Ellie Kemper) reunited with both her biological father and mother, played by Ed Begley Jr. and Joan Cusack respectively. They got to enjoy themselves at Dwight and Angela’s wedding and it’s probably safe to assume they stayed in touch.

From the looks of things before the reunion, Erin’s mother and father were no longer together. But with their orphaned daughter’s story now out in the open, they’d likely make an effort to give Erin the family she never had. No one expects Erin’s parents to fall in love but being there for their daughter should be enough.

Five years later, they still wouldn’t be the typical nuclear family. There’s too much history for this unlikely trio to just start over. Occasional outings together, on the other hand, sound feasible. Erin too would want to stay in contact with her parents even if they choose to live separate lives. Of course, we can’t rule out the possibility of them becoming a close family.
