Is there anything that screams Halloween more than zombies? But the zombies on iZombie are a bit different from what you might be familiar with. The problem all starts in Seattle when a unique drug is distributed at a party. The drugs have the awful side effect of turning those who take it into zombies who have one goal: to eat as many brains as they can get their hands on.

One of the people at that party is Olivia “Liv” Moore. She starts as a medical resident but once she turns, she quits her job, leaves her fiance, Major, and becomes a medical examiner. One of the unique side effects of being a zombie is that whoever’s brain she eats, she ends up with their memories as well.

So, Liv helps the police find the killers of the people who come across her slab. She eats their brains to satisfy her cravings and uses their memories to figure out how they died. She teams up with Police Detective Clive Babineaux so she can go to crime scenes to kick-start her new memories.

At first, Liv tells no one of her new identity, but soon her boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, figures her out. Together, they keep her secret while Ravi tries to find a way to cure her in hopes that one day, she might be able to return to her normal life.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted, funny show rather than something completely scary, iZombie is definitely your best bet. Besides the memories, Liv also temporarily takes on the personality traits of the person’s brain she ate which often results in a hilarious outcome.

All five seasons are currently streaming on Netflix.
