18. Scream

No, this isn’t the 1996 classic horror film. This is the MTV series, but it follows a similar storyline as the movie. Each season, a different group of teens is terrorized by a masked killer named the Lakewood Slasher.

The first two seasons of the show takes place in the fictional town of Lakewood where a series of murders are committed. Emma Duval, a teenager who lives in the town, is somehow connected to its dark past. So she does what any of us would do: she tries to uncover who is killing the people around her (ok, we might not all do this).

The show changes it up in the third season by following Deion Elliot, a star football player in Atlanta. But his life is not as easy as it may seem. He is still dealing with the tragic events of his past. But his past comes back to haunt him when a stalker named Ghostface comes out, tries to use Deion’s secrets against him and furthers the killing spree. Now Deion must figure out how to stop the killer so his friends and family don’t end up a target.

Based on that short synopsis alone, doesn’t this sound like a perfect show for Halloween? Murder, stalking, suspense, and secrets. What more could you want? The show has those signature horror story moments where you’re not sure if the killer is going to hit or if the writers are just playing with you. No shame if you jump four feet off the couch. It happens to the best of us.

The original film is the perfect movie to watch on Halloween and the TV series is no different.
