7. The Walking Dead

What would this list be without The Walking Dead? If you’re looking for a scary zombie show that is also part psychological thriller (with the humans acting sometimes worse than the zombies) to watch throughout October (there are a lot of seasons), The Walking Dead is where it’s at. All nine seasons are currently streaming on Netflix.

The show revolves around a group of survivors as the world descends into the zombie apocalypse. The group is led by Rick Grimes, a former sheriff in Atlanta, Georgia and consists of a bunch of different people including Rick’s son, Carl, Michonne, a warrior they pick up along the way, Daryl, a poor loner who rides a motorcycle, and Carol, a mother who quickly changes in order to survive.

They pick up and lose people as they travel to the next safe place, killing zombies and fighting off other people trying to steal their supplies or do them harm along the way.

The zombies are like most you’ve probably seen in other zombie shows and movies. They’re hungry for human flesh and if you’re bitten, you’ll turn into a zombie yourself. The group goes from looking for a cure to finding a way to live a fulfilling life with the zombies to just trying to get by day to day.

And while the show has been on for many years, it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. New seasons are still coming out, there’s a spin-off called Fear of the Walking Dead, and there are soon to be movies spotlighting Rick and his journey after he was taken away in a helicopter in season 9.

The Walking Dead is equally a great horror show and an interesting drama. Whether you’re in it for the scare factor or the relationships between the survivors, it’s the perfect series to watch on Halloween.
