11. Dexter

A blood spatter analyst kills people to satisfy his craving to kill but only targets people who are already criminals themselves. With all the blood and gore on this show, Dexter is another must-watch for Halloween! And with eight seasons streaming on Netflix, you have plenty of episodes to watch.

The show follows, Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst who lives and works in Miami. He has one huge secret. He loves killing people. But because of the way his dad brought him up, he sticks to a code of only killing bad guys. Hiding this from the people he works with and his sister, Deb, who also happens to be a police detective, is, as you can guess, easier said than done.

Through each season, Dexter finds it more and more difficult to live a normal life when he’s keeping such a big secret. He also has to deal with people like him. Multiple serial killers take over the city and how he must figure out how deal with them without anyone finding out. He also must come to terms with his past.

Every new season brings on a scarier and scarier killer that Dexter must defeat, including The Ice Truck Killer, The Trinity Killer, and The Skinner.

If you’re more into crime shows and drama rather than scary supernatural beings, Dexter is definitely more your speed. While Dexter deals with his urges and keeping his secret, he also helps solve murders.

But don’t let all this fool you, the show isn’t all dark. There are at least a couple of funny moments in each episode to lighten the very dark and gory moments. It makes for a perfect series to watch while eating a bowl of Halloween candy.
