Whether you’re getting yourself in the mood for Halloween or just planning what you’re going to watch, Netflix has plenty of scary shows, including Stranger Things.

Fall might not have officially arrived just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start planning what to watch for Halloween or start your spooky binge-athon right now. Netflix has plenty to offer in that category no matter what kind of dark, creepy, or genuinely frightening series you’re looking for.

Halloween means lots of things to different people. It can be a fun time to eat candy and dress up as your favorite character, it can be the day you want to scare the crap out of yourself (or your friends) by watching scary shows in the dark, or it can be the day you gather your friends and watch a mixture of frightening and fun shows before you head to a Halloween party.

Whatever type of Halloween you celebrate, there is a show for you. If you’re looking for fun (maybe you have kids hanging out at your house), there are shows like iZombie, Riverdale, and Lucifer.

If you’re looking for something unique (there’s really no other way to describe these), you should check out Twin Peaks, Hemlock Grove, and Mystery Science Theater 3000.

And if you’re looking for some real horror, there’s a ton of series available to stream, including You, American Horror, and The Haunting of Hill House (might want to pause these if you have trick or treaters coming to house…don’t scare the children.)

No matter what you’re in the mood for or what type of night you’re planning, there’s a show perfect for your spooky celebration.

Let’s check out the top 20 shows on Netflix that are perfect to watch this Halloween.

20. The Mist

Is there anything scarier than the very air around you being fatal? How do you stop something like that? That is what the characters in The Mist have to figure out when an unexplained mist comes over the town of Bridgeville, Maine and kills anyone who is trapped by it.

To get away from it, groups of people hide in the mall, the hospital, and even the church. But the mist starts to develop new kinds of terrors. It needs people to kill, so it lures people out of their safe spaces by showing them their past, things they’re afraid of, and things they’re guilty about. Once they come out, it envelopes and kills them.

The show mainly follows Kevin Copeland, his wife, Eve, and their daughter, Alex, who is dealing with her own trauma on top of the mist coming to town. The family is soon separated with Kevin in the police station and Alex and Eve hiding out in the mall. As when any type of mysterious terror comes upon a group of people, the town soon dissolves into chaos and people become desperate to survive.

People turn on each other and are killed to save others. But the mist isn’t the only mysterious thing happening in town. Everyone’s actions are questioned.

The show is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name and is perfect to watch on Halloween night. It’s one season of ten episodes so you could certainly watch the whole season on a Halloween night.
