Riverdale season 4 trailer: Where is Jughead?

The Riverdale season 4 trailer has finally been released, and everyone is asking the same question: “Where is Jughead?”

E! News shared the exclusive trailer exactly four weeks ahead of the season 4 premiere on The CW on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. As one would expect, the Riverdale season 4 trailer is absolutely crazy!

The trailer begins with Sheriff FP Jones leading a search party through the woods looking for – guess who? – Jughead! And, that’s the main thing everyone is focusing on, especially after that flash-forward in the season 3 finale, which takes place during spring break for these characters. According to Decider, that episode exploring what exactly happened that led to Archie, Veronica and Betty covered in blood and burning Jughead’s hat could air around midseason.

As pointed out by E! News, the kicker here is that we don’t know when Jughead goes missing. Is it after the events of spring break with Archie throwing his hat on the fire? Or, is it before that time? It makes all the difference really in taking in what we are seeing.

Later in the trailer and as the search continues, we see Jughead buried underground, or at least that’s what it appears. He’s yelling for them, and hopefully, they hear him.

Based on the trailer, it doesn’t look like Jughead is missing at the beginning of the season. There’s plenty of moments in the trailer between Jughead and Betty. I guess they could be sharing those moments after he’s rescued, but who knows?

There’s a bunch of other insane storylines going on in season 4, based on the trailer. It looks like Betty is still up to her ways as an investigator, but gets knocked out by a shadowy figure with a rifle. Who could that be, and why are they targeting Betty Cooper?

She also offers to spill some major secrets to Kevin. Is it about the Farm or something else? Remember, in the season 3 finale, we last saw Betty making a pact to never speak of the night that they burned Jughead’s hat. This seems like a reference to that.

Varchie seems to be going strong in season 4, although Veronica appears to be caught up in another scandal. Don’t worry, though, she’s used to it by now.

It’s the senior year for many of these Riverdale characters, and things are changing in town. Veronica says, “Isn’t it crazy? In just nine months, life as we know it will be over…”

That theme will be present, most likely, throughout the full season. We’re going to get a lot more high school storylines, and that message was echoed by the cast at San Diego Comic-Con. It will be really interesting to see how this season will be different from previous seasons.
