3. Charles

The final moments of the season 3 finale brought the shocking arrival of Charles Smith, the real son of Alice and FP. An FBI agent, he meets his half-siblings Betty and Jughead to request their help on the investigation into The Farm and the disappearance of Alice, who he’d been working with the whole time.

Sure, it seems like we can trust him, but can we really trust anyone in Riverdale? He could go either way in terms of his inherent sketchiness, though that doesn’t mean much when considering he’s low hanging fruit in this mystery and could turn out the ultimate casualty.

2. Edgar

Wouldn’t it be the sweetest poetic justice if the ringleader of the organ farming cult ended up with his body on the chopping block? Okay, that’s a touch dark, but the entire story of Edgar Evernever is a touch dark.

As of right now, it’s largely unconfirmed at what capacity Chad Michael Murray will return as the ripped cult leader, but since he’s fled town with Alice, it’s all but necessary that Edgar will be back and there will be hell to pay. Perhaps Archie, Betty and Veronica are throwing their clothing in the fire after taking out the evil Evernever? Stranger things have happened on Riverdale.

1. Penelope

Last season’s villain remains at large and an ominous threat to Archie and the gang. And while Penelope might register as too safe and obvious an option for a character death (especially since Nathalie Boltt is incredible as Cheryl’s venomous mother), she’s naturally in danger of getting slapped with karma’s swift kiss. Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that season 4 will mark a “different kind of mystery” than the series has ever done, according to TV Line.

That probably means the town won’t be under siege by a masked entity. Being so, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the core four and their friends are the ones doing the hunting this time around. Watch your back, Red Dahlia.

Which characters do you think might die in season 4? Do you agree with our picks, or did we leave out any characters with a death wish? Sound off in the comments!

Riverdale returns for season 4 on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
