When the teen drama returns this fall on The CW, our favorite — and least favorite — Riverdale residents will find their lives in danger as something deadly takes over town and eventually finds Archie, Betty and Veronica ditching their bloodied clothes into the fire during what should be their carefree senior year.

But while fans wait to learn the truth about the very I Know What You Did Last Summer moment at the fire, it’s well worth wondering which characters we might lose to the latest mystery unfolding on season 4 of Riverdale. Could Jughead really be a goner, or is karma coming for Edgar Evernever and/or Penelope Blossom? Is the clock ticking for Hiram Lodge or Ethel Muggs?

7. Jughead

Considering Jughead’s life has been threatened in literally almost every season of Riverdale so far, sometimes multiple more than once, it’s no surprise that his fate hung in the balance in the season 3 finale’s flash-forward.

However, the cast already revealed at Comic-Con that Cole Sprouse will be back in Jughead’s signature hat, the same hat the gang tossed into the fire (Jughead was supposed to be in that scene, by the way). Our narrator and Serpent leader might be in the clear for now, but who knows what that twist and season 4’s new mystery have in store for ol’ Jughead.
