Netflix shares the trailer for The King starring Timothée Chalamet

Netflix released the trailer for the original film The King starring Timothée Chalamet. The movie premieres at the Venice Film Festival this weekend.

The film is based on Shakespeare’s Henry V and tells the story of the young King Henry V, played by Oscar nominee Chalamet. David Michôd directed the movie and co-wrote the script alongside Joel Edgerton. There’s no release date for the film yet.

Robert Pattinson, the Batman himself, also stars in the movie. Oh, and he is blonde! Along with Chalamet and Pattinson, Edgerton, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, and Lily-Rose Depp also star in the Netflix movie.

Before hitting Netflix later this fall, the movie is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this weekend.

Looks good, right? Even Oscar-worthy, I’d say!

With a film list this, it looks like Netflix might have found its first big success with dramas set in and around this time period. Netflix previously tried to do so with Chris Pine’s somewhat star-studded movie Outlaw King, but it was not able to garner as much as attention or awards as it could have. By the looks of it, The King seems to be a brilliantly acted spectacle.

Chalamet had breakout success with the Academy Award-nominated film Call Me By Your Name, for which he also got a nomination as Best Actor. He was also in another Academy Award nominee movie the same year, Lady Bird, the film was quite a hit among teens and young adult demographic and made his name as a recognized actor with a dedicated fanbase. Chalamet is now considered as one of the greatest actors of his generation.

The King will be released in theaters this fall with a Netflix release coming a few weeks after, most likely. The film must be released in theaters before it hits Netflix to qualify for the Oscars.

It’s likely the film will be released in October or November. Netflix just announced The Irishman from Martin Scorsese will premiere on Nov. 27, 2019. The King should be released around that time.
