Christmas Chronicles 2 is happening with Kurt Russell and Chris Columbus

The best Christmas movie of 2018 is finally getting a sequel on Netflix. Kurt Russell is coming back and legendary director Chris Columbus is all set to direct Christmas Chronicles 2!

Christmas may still be a few months away but fans of Kurt Russell are already celebrating, including us! As predicted, last year’s super hit Netflix original movie The Christmas Chronicles is returning to take us all on a joyous ride and we can’t wait!

The modern father of Christmas – Kurt Russell is coming back to resume his role as sassy Santa Claus and entertain us all, according to a report from MovieWeb. And, it gets better!

According to the report, the legendary director Chris Columbus who has worked on literally every classic movie out there – Home Alone, Harry Potter, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Gremlins to name some –  will be directing Christmas Chronicles 2 at Netflix.

In case you don’t know, Columbus served as a producer for the first movie as well you so you can be assured that the sequel is going to be as good as the original, probably even better! The highly anticipated sequel of the holiday movie will begin filming this September and will release Christmas 2020, as reported by DiscussingFilm.

That’s going to be a bit of a long wait for fans who thought the sequel would be released this year. But, hey, at least, we’re getting the sequel at all!

Directed by Clay Kaytis and based on a screenplay by Matt Lieberman, Christmas Chronicles premiered on Netflix in November. Starring Kurt Russell, Judah Lewis, Darby Camp, Lamorne Morris, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Oliver Hudson, the movie was LOVED by people worldwide and within just a week of its release, it was watched by over 20 million people!

The movie also featured Russell’s other half, Goldie Hawn, for a brief cameo as Mrs. Claus, and the whole thing was just adorable! There’s no official word on the cast yet but we really hope we’ll see Mrs. Claus again, for a bigger role this time around! Netflix is yet to confirm the release date of the sequel.

Without a doubt, Christmas Chronicles is the best original holiday movie you can watch on Netflix and easily one of the greatest ever made.
