Friday, Oct. 30, 2020 – Halloween

Because the first two seasons were set in October and November of 1983 and 1984, respectively, I’ve always thought of Stranger Things as more of a fall show, even though two of the seasons (the first and third) were released in July of their respective years.

Stranger Things 2 gave us a glimpse of Hawkins during Halloween, and it was the perfect setting for that season, which really embraced more horror elements than the first season. The stakes were much higher. I loved that Halloween weekend release for the second season.

I’d be happy if Stranger Things 4 dove back into the Halloween setting. It’s the perfect time of year for a show like Stranger Things. With the three-month time jump at the end of the third season, we would basically pick right up with the characters immediately if the new season was to be set over Halloween.

That’d be a great way to dive back into this story. The third season was the most devastating in terms of lives lost with the Mind Flayer killing all those poor people. Hawkins will be dealing with that loss in the new season, and it would be good to see that in the few months following that tragedy.

Halloween 2020 is about as early of a release date for the new season as we could expect. Production starts this fall, and I don’t think they want to spend less than six months or so promoting the new season after it finishes production. So, that’s what I’m hoping for, but I’m also keeping options open.

We’ve already seen Halloween in Hawkins, to a certain extent, and there are some big Netflix shows, including Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and a few other shows that would be good for October 2020 releases.

We have a few other possible release dates for Stranger Things 4.
