Veronica Mars Season 5: How likely is a season renewal at this point?

Hulu released the fourth season of Veronica Mars ahead of its’ scheduled debut, but now, fans are wondering if the streaming service intends to renew the mystery-drama.

With the fourth season of Veronica Mars ending on a note that seemingly sent our favorite investigator on a new mission, fans want to know if Hulu is planning on developing more episodes. Keep in mind that the decision itself would be a joint one made between Warner Media and Hulu, and of course, Kristen Bell — she is the series’ titular star.

As far as chances for a season five renewal go, Hulu will have to look at the numbers brought in before making a determination. The thing is, only a week’s time has passed since the streaming service launched Veronica Mars’ fourth season. Therefore, it’s still too early to tell if enough subscribers actually tuned in. Longtime fans obviously did but there’s no telling if the show appealed to general audiences as well.

Nevertheless, fans curious about a fifth season should take solace in the fact that Veronica had jobs lined up all across the country in the end. Veronica explains the situation to her and Logan’s old therapist, pointing out that she’s leaving Neptune behind for a while. She doesn’t elaborate on her plans but the look at Veronica driving down a highway suggests she’s on the way to her next job.

What that tells us is the show’s producers intend to send Mars Investigations’ lead investigator on a mission elsewhere in the country, or it could possibly go international. If Rob Thomas and his team do expect Hulu to order more episodes, they’ve already created a branching off point for more adventures that may head overseas. It would be interesting to see Veronica working in another country where the laws are different.

In any case, a season renewal for Veronica Mars means Season 5 will send the series’ titular character to a new environment. The question is: where will Veronica go next?
