New on Netflix in August 2019: Glow season 3, Mindhunter season 2 and more

After an incredible July slate of Netflix new releases like Stranger Things 3 and Orange is the New Black season 7, Netflix is bringing a bunch of good shows back for new seasons in August 2019. We shared the full list of what’s new on Netflix in August below.

It’s going to be a really good month for Netflix originals on the way. We’ll get to see Dear White People Vol. 3 (Aug. 2), No Good Nick Part 2 (Aug. 5), Wu Assassins (Aug. 8), GLOW season 3 (Aug. 9), Mindhunter season 2 (Aug. 16), and more.

I’m especially excited for Wu Assassins. I love actions shows like this, especially those that dabble in martial arts.

Here’s the official synopsis of the series, via Netflix:

"The last in a line of Chosen Ones, a wannabe chef teams up with a homicide detective to unravel an ancient mystery and take down supernatural assassins"

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance caps off the solid month of Netflix originals. The new Netflix series is a prequel to the classic fantasy film The Dark Crystal, which was released in 1982. This show has the potential to be one of the biggest Netflix shows ever. There are some incredible actors lending their voices to this project, including Taron Egerton, Mark Hamill, Anya Taylor-Joy, Simon Pegg, Alicia Vikander, Andy Samberg, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helena Bonham Carter, Donna

We’re also seeing a few new seasons of popular CW shows hitting Netflix in August. Jane the Virgin season 5, the final season of the series, hits Netflix on Aug. 8, followed by iZombie season 5 on Aug. 9. A few days later, The 100 season 6 will be released on Netflix.

That’s a really good schedule of TV shows for Netflix. We don’t often see a month with this many good shows to watch, especially the final month of summer. It will be interesting to see how Netflix starts releasing some of the big shows they’ve stashed for the end of summer and fall in September and beyond.

Overall, there aren’t many good movies hitting the streaming service in August that we know of so far. There are the two Nickelodeon movies, Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, available to stream on Aug. 9 and Aug. 16, respectively.

You can also check out the first five Rocky movies, Gangs of New York, Jackie Brown, House Bunny, and Sex and the City: The Movie in August, as well. The full list of what’s new on Netflix in the next month is listed below.
