The Witcher: Netflix shares first look at the new original series

The first look at The Witcher starring Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan is here. Netflix also announced The Witcher is going to San Diego Comic-Con.

Netflix shared the first look at their new original series The Witcher! The streaming network revealed the first look at the main characters from The Witcher on social media, and we shared those images below.

The Witcher is based on the book series of the same name written by Andrzej Sapkowski. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the showrunner for the Netflix series. The first season consists of eight episodes.

In the series, Henry Cavill stars as Geralt of Rivia, alongside Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan. You’ll see images of their characters below.

"Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

The Witcher is coming to Netflix later this year, but we haven’t heard the release date for the new series yet. That should be announced in the near future. Stay tuned for more news about the release date!

I’m so excited about this series. It has the potential to be one of the best Netflix shows ever, and I can’t wait to see what Hissrich has come up with over the last few years.

Netflix also announced The Witcher will also be at San Diego Comic-Con this year. There will be a panel in Hall H on Friday, July 19, at 2:15 p.m. PT. Cavill, Allan, Chalotra, and the showrunner Hissrich will attend the SDCC panel, which will be hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown, according to a press release from Netflix.

While we can’t confirm, we’ll probably learn a lot more about this new series at SDCC. Hopefully, Netflix will confirm the release date for the new series at SDCC and show fans a sneak peek or new trailer for the series. We’ll find out later this month!

The Witcher is going to be one of the most popular shows on Netflix (and all of TV) later this year. The fantasy series fills a void in programming with Game of Thrones officially over. It will be really interesting to see the response to this series when they are so many fans of the books.
