Legion’s final season kicked off tonight with an episode that made David Haller even more formidable than before. Although David’s new power isn’t his own, it belongs to a mutant named Switch. Find out more in our recap below.

Even before the season three premiere of FX’s Legion, it was fairly obvious that David Haller (Dan Stevens) is one of the strongest mutants on the planet. He possesses both telepathic and telekinetic abilities, all of which are beyond his own comprehension. David can’t see the truth as he’s blinded by the overwhelming power.

On top of his shortsightedness, David has been recruiting followers to the newly-formed cult he’s leading. One such advertisement attracted the attention of Switch (Lauren Tsai), a mutant who’ll play a significant role in the final season of Legion.

In the season three premiere, Switch (Lauren Tsai) is introduced as she goes through rigorous mental training — training meant for time-travelers. She’s taught by an ominous voice who seems to have knowledge of time-travel, presumably gained through experience. Mind you that Switch is extremely smothered in this environment.

Surprisingly, Switch follows a random trail of clues leading to David Haller and his Legion. She meets with Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) and a few others in his cult before meeting with the man himself. When she does, it’s a bit of an odd situation.

David introduces himself to Switch as he presumably does with all his new followers. He sways them with visions and lures unassuming victims into his madness by showing them the extent of his abilities. The lengths of David’s telepathic and telekinetic abilities haven’t been measured but he’s not invincible, evidenced by Sydney (Rachel Keller) getting the jump on him.

What they don’t know is a time-traveling mutant is now by his side. Switch doesn’t immediately ally herself with David, but after seeing the Summerland team attack, she rewinds the clock to warn him of the coming dangers.
