Ready to die and die again? Natasha Lyonne will be back to serve sarcasm and untimely deaths as Netflix renews the dark comedy Russian Doll for season 2.

Russian Doll has been officially renewed at Netflix for another season! The show  tweeted out the news this afternoon with a video from star/ co-creator Natasha Lyonne.

The official news came during an interview with Lyonne and Netflix content VP Cindy Holland at Recode’s annual Code Conference. As reported by Deadline, Holland asks Lyonne straight up while on the panel and of course Lyonne is on board:

"Want to do a season two, Natasha?” Holland asked Lyonne on the panel.“Me, Cindy? Same show, just weirder? Are you sure?” Lyonne replied. “Nadia Vulvokov is a coder, as you know, so I guess it would be somewhat appropriate to maybe have this be the time and place to say yes, very much so, I would love to do that, Cindy.”"

The series will be giving us another eight episode season, which I personally think is way too short! I would have loved to have a good 20 episodes per season, but no outlet seems to be putting out longer seasons anymore.

When season 1 first premiered, I was instantly hooked! The entire series is a pretty quick watch and I consumed it in a day which is pretty easy to do with how few episodes there are. There is just something about the way Natasha Lyonne portrays Nadia that makes her one of the best on-screen characters of our time.

Lucky WGA members and fans were able to sit in and listen to a panel about the series from the entire creative team last week just days before the big announcement at Code Conference. A few of my friends were able to be there and said the panel had them laughing to tears.

No date has been announced for season 2, but you can be sure that the writing team of Leslye Headland, Amy Poehler and Natasha Lyonne are already hard at work coming up with the arc of the next season. One of the unique things about this series is that the writers room is all female.

This is a rarity in Hollywood where writers rooms are most often stacked male. Having the strong female comedic team must make for a fun working experience. I have yet to write for an episodic series and tend to be more of a feature screenplay writer, but even I would die for a chance to be in that room while they are creating.
