ABC canceled Whiskey Cavalier starring Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley. Netflix should save Whiskey Cavalier like they did with Designated Survivor and Lucifer.

Recently, ABC canceled Whiskey Cavalier after the TV show’s first season on the network. Shortly after, there was a big uproar among fans of the series on social media, and then ABC said they were looking at bringing the show back.

According to a report from Deadline, ABC announced they were officially canceling Whiskey Cavalier and not bringing back the show for season 2. Now, fans are asking Netflix to save Whiskey Cavalier after what feels like a second cancellation at ABC.

Netflix has had great success saving shows after they’ve been canceled at various networks. Recently, the streaming network saved Lucifer after Fox canceled the show last spring, and they did the same thing with Designated Survivor after ABC canceled the show.

For those who don’t know, Whiskey Cavalier stars Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley. Cohan starred as Maggie in The Walking Dead, while Foley is best known for his role in Scandal. Based on their other works being super popular, I thought for sure this show would have a lot of Walking Dead and Scandal fans interested, and I think there was definitely an initial bump in ratings because of it.

Unfortunately, the show’s ratings dropped almost every week since the premiere, according to ratings reports.

Regardless of the drop in ratings, there are still millions of viewers watching this show on ABC. If exposed to the right audience, which Netflix has, Whiskey Cavalier could be a huge success for the streaming service.

It’s not that the series was canceled because it’s bad or unwatchable. It just doesn’t seem to be doing well on ABC. From what I’ve seen, it’s actually pretty good, and Foley and Cohan have good chemistry and deliver solid performances. Over time, I think the show could get even better if it goes the right direction, and Netflix would be able to make that happen.

While this show is not my cup of tea, I see a need for a show like this on Netflix, as well. There’s clearly a market for FBI shows, and Netflix has very few available to stream. Adding Whiskey Cavalier makes fans happy and it feels a need much like Lucifer and Designated Survivor did for Netflix in their respective genres.

Will Netflix save Whiskey Cavalier? We hope so, but we never know what Netflix is thinking. If it will help the streaming network add subscribers, they can definitely find a way to make it happen.

One of the things working against Netflix saving the show is that the streaming network doesn’t control the streaming rights to the series internationally, according to Deadline. Netflix had those rights for Lucifer and Designated Survivor in some countries, and that’s important for the streaming network moving forward with a show like Whiskey Cavalier.

We’ll let you know if we hear any news about Netflix saving Whiskey Cavalier! Stay tuned.
