25. Game of Thrones

Of course, HBO’s Game of Thrones is first on our list. Not that any of these are being ranked, but we’d be lying if we said the hit drama did pop up first on our minds. After all, who wouldn’t want to binge-watch all eight seasons of the series in one long sitting?

Sure, you can currently watch all previous seasons and episodes on the HBO Now service, but for a hefty price tag in addition to Netflix. Why can’t it simply be added to Netflix’s programming so we can watch along with everything else we already love? Well, the short answer here is legal issues. As much as we wish things were different, Netflix can’t just upload anything it wants to.

Game of Thrones, the TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s novels, is one of the highest praised shows of all-time. The series has a massive fan base and is one of the most-watched programs.

The seasons are short, particularly season 8 (the series final season), and the episodes are action-packed and very intense. All of which are the perfect ingredients for a Netflix show we can binge-watch over a long weekend. Unfortunately, however, it’s not available on Netflix.

Much like Daenerys and Cersei, HBO Now and Netflix are competitors. They both pull for attention (aka money) and refuse to compromise on a deal. Not to mention, I’m sure HBO wants to keep all of the profits, and we don’t blame them!

For a time, HBO had a nice deal going on with Amazon Prime and Game of Thrones was available there. But it wasn’t long before that contract expired and HBO said “no more!”
