5. Hellboy

2019 saw the return of Hellboy to the big screen and, well, it wasn’t a great outing. The attempt to bring Hellboy into the rated-R movie world and capitalize on Deadpool and Logan‘s success is more reason to let this property move into the world of streaming. Many of the issues that comic book movies face are time-related. Whether it’s too much time on the origin story, or not enough time resolving the main conflict, the majority of “bad” comic book movies fall into those two areas.

The rights may be an issue with a movie releasing so recently, but in the age where Disney is purchasing every aspect of entertainment, it can’t be that difficult.

Imagine giving 10+ hours to developing the Hellboy origin and its supporting characters. The time constraint and pressure of making back millions of dollars would be lost at Netflix. The streaming platforms are catered for these type of gritty, action-heavy shows. Locking in a few somewhat known actors for at least three seasons wouldn’t be an issue and the demand is high for these properties. Fans of the original Hellboy film, written and directed by Guillermo Del Toro, were largely underwhelmed by the new remake and would want to see their favorite half-demon represented fairly on-screen.
