The Act episode seven recap: Gypsy and Nick’s getaway is successful, but short-lived
In episode seven of The Act, Nick and Gypsy try to settle in with Nick’s parents. Although, their”happily ever after” ends rather quickly when they are tracked down through a Facebook post they made on Dee Dee’s account.
Episode seven of The Act begins with Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn seemingly getting away with murder. They make it to Nick’s hometown, Big Bend, Wisconsin where Gypsy is blown away by Wisconsin’s beauty and thinks they will be very happy living there. Nick’s mom picks the couple up from the bus stop and comments on Gypsy being chipper. She seems annoyed and inconvenienced by having to pick them up.
At first sight, Gypsy is immediately put-off by their home. She thinks Nick’s room is cluttered and the empty kitchen cabinets upset her. She considers Nick’s mom a poor mother for not providing for them. In an effort to get food, Gypsy convinces Nick to help with some lowly thievery. Gypsy wraps her knee in a bandage and Nick asks the clerk for a mechanical scooter. While shopping, Gypsy sneaks packages of food under her clothes.
While successful, Gypsy continues to have issues at Nick’s house. She’s upset by how rude his parents are, speaking of her mother. She’s confused when they don’t have any medicine even Pepto Bismol. Gypsy thinks they should go back to Springfield. She wants them to live in the house once Dee Dee’s body is removed.
The pair jump on Facebook and make a post under Dee Dee’s account in hopes of someone going to check on Dee Dee. The infamous post reads, “That bitch is dead.” they then continued to make Facebook posts. But as they’re finishing, Nick realizes they didn’t erase their location before posting.

Back in Wisconsin, the knife package arrives. Gypsy freaks out when Nick says they should wait to dump the knife in the lake in the morning. Gypsy comments on their happily ever after never started. She thinks disposing of the knife will solve all their problems since it’s the last thing tying them to the crime.
Back at Dee Dee’s house, the cops are taking pictures and investigating the house. The cops state the Facebook post was tracked back to Big Bend, Wisconsin where the couple was quickly discovered at Nick’s house. They panicked and hid in a closet while Nick’s parents exited the home. SWAT enters the house and the couples’ honeymoon is over. Gypsy and Nick are then walked out in handcuffs.
At the police station, Gypsy and Nick are spoken to separately. Gypsy acts like it’s the first time she’s heard of her mom being dead. The detective can tell she’s lying though. Nick confesses to stabbing Dee Dee, but only because Gypsy wanted him to do so. Nick explains that Dee Dee forced Gypsy to be 16 years old and stay in a wheelchair. Nick states that he saved Gypsy.
A more thorough interrogation reveals that there’s a lot boiling under the surface—for both Gypsy and Nick. The latter is plagued by mental-health issues as it’s quickly noted on by the interrogator. Gypsy, she puts a charade for the Detective speaking with her and doesn’t break her resolve. Gypsy doesn’t admit to the crime so the Detective proceeds to charge her with the crime of murder.
After they’re booked, Gypsy is brought into the courtroom for her first hearing. She’s shaken while walking in but really has a meltdown when the potential sentence for her crime comes down—it’s either the death penalty or life in prison without parole. One can only guess how the trial will go. And will we learn the real truth about Dee Dee’s murder?
