Outlander is coming to Netflix in May 2019

The first and second seasons of the hit Starz series Outlander will finally be available to stream on Netflix this May.

If you have been hearing about the hit show Outlander for years now but haven’t had your chance to start watching, Netflix has the treat you’ve been waiting for. Get ready to dive into your next favorite binge when Seasons 1 and 2 of the Starz historical fantasy drama arrive on the streaming service in May, alongside a number of new original series premieres and additions from The CW.

Outlander’s first and second seasons, spanning 29 total episodes, will be available for instant streaming on Netflix on Monday, May 27. The streamer made the announcement on their family branch’s Twitter account, calling out to all the parents out there who have fallen in love with Jamie and Claire’s romance — or, really, just Jamie. But who can blame them?

For those unfamiliar with the series, which just wrapped its fourth season on Starz in January, Outlander is based on the series of historical time travel novels by Diana Gabaldon.

The series begins with Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married World War II nurse in 1945, as she’s transported to 1743 Scotland. Once back in time, Claire meets Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and finds herself in the middle of the Jacobite Risings.

But for those who have breathlessly watched each season, Outlander has evolved into can’t-miss television as it adapted more captivating stories from the book series. After finishing the fourth season with consistent ratings and continued fan devotion, Starz renewed the series for fifth and sixth seasons, which will adapt The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes respectively and each consist of 12 episodes.

Since there are nine books (and possibly counting), Outlander could very well continue past its forthcoming Seasons 5 and 6, but for now, it’s best not to get of ourselves. Before the fifth season premieres as soon as later this year, it’s time to jump back into the first two seasons that started it all, with the stories and episodes that captured the hearts of millions of viewers.

It’s inarguable that Outlander has been one of the most desired series to come to Netflix, and fans have finally gotten their wish. Be sure to check out Seasons 1 and 2 if you’re looking for a new series to binge-watch (or, more than likely, re-binge-watch), and keep an eye out for Seasons 3 and 4, which should hopefully make their way onto your watch list sooner rather than later.
