Marvel is making a new Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner for Disney+. The series will introduce Kate Bishop as she takes over as Hawkeye.

Jeremy Renner will star in a new Hawkeye miniseries coming to Disney+, according to an exclusive report from Variety.

Hawkeye joins Vision, Loki, Falcon, Scarlet Witch and Winter Soldier as the first Marvel characters to get their own shows at Disney+. The streaming service is scheduled to launch later this year, but there’s no timeline yet for the Hawkeye series.

According to the report, the Hawkeye series will follow Clint Barton (Renner) and his decision to “pass the torch” to Kate Bishop. The character will, then, become the new Hawkeye, and she’ll probably join the Avengers or some team in the future, depending on the direction the MCU goes after Endgame.

The Avengers: Endgame trailer seemed to introduce Bishop. It looks like there is a good chance Endgame starts this part of the Hawkeye story, although that has not been confirmed.

After Netflix canceled Marvel’s Daredevil and the rest of the Netflix original Marvel shows, it kicked the door open for Marvel to dominate the superhero streaming game at Disney+. Loki, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Winter Soldier, Falcon and Hawkeye are getting their own shows, and this is just the beginning. Marvel and Disney would be smart to open up the arsenal for all their minor characters and bring them into the streaming fold.

The Marvel movies are great, but the shows, outside of a few, have missed the mark. It will be interesting to see how these new shows go with fans. If they flop, it could change everything for the current course Marvel and Disney are on. If they are successful, this could become really, really cool for Marvel fans!

We’ll be sure to let you know more information about the series and Disney+ when we find out. Right now, you can prepare for Avengers: Endgame by watching the last five Marvel movies on Netflix, including Avengers: Infinity War.
