At the AMC Networks Summit this past week, AMC and BBC America announced they’d be renewing Killing Eve for a third season. Read on for more details.

The second season of Killing Eve only just premiered but BBC America and its subsidiaries have already renewed the spy-drama for another season. They made the announcement at this past week’s AMC Networks Summit. There, BBC and AMC unveiled a press release for the third season of Killing Eve.

In the press release, basic information on the series renewal comprised most of its body. But what piqued our interest was the passing of a proverbial baton between lead writers.

According to the announcement, Suzanne Heathcote is coming aboard as lead writer and executive producer for Season 3. She previously worked on Fear The Walking Dead during its third season—arguably one of the best seasons thus far—reiterating why Heathcote is a welcome addition to the Killing Eve team.

As far as where Heathcote intends to take the show in its junior year, that has yet to be determined. The Season 2 premiere only recently debuted so there’s no way to say exactly where the story will go next. We could look at the original novellas by Luke Jennings for more insight but Heathcote may decide to take certain liberties with the story.

For now, the plot seems to be building in the same direction as Season 1. Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) just had a major collision and another one is impending. Though, the million dollar question remains: how will it all end?

Will Eve and Martens (Fiona Shaw) capture Villanelle? Or will the trained assassin possibly kill Carolyn Martens to make way for Richards Edwards—Eve’s MI6 contact in the books? We don’t picture Villanelle killing the only person she can tolerate but Martens could be a potential casualty.

In any case, Villanelle and Eve’s dance will have to come to an end at some point. Unfortunately, we don’t know how—and frankly—it’s better that way. No one wants to see either Eve or Villanelle die but that’s a possible conclusion to their story.
