When the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel was announced, fans immediately wondered whether Jordan Burchett would play John Ambrose McClaren. It turns out he won’t, because Jordan Fisher has just landed the role.

The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel has just found its permanent John Ambrose McClaren. Despite being played by Jordan Burchett in the mid-credits scene during the first movie, Jordan Fisher has landed the role for the sequel.

Entertainment Weekly announced the casting decision and Jordan Fisher quickly tweeted out the confirmation on his own feed. There’s still no date for the sequel to be released but it looks like production is getting ready to start back up, especially now it has its permanent John Ambrose McClaren.

The sequel to the Netflix hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before will be based on the second novel in the book trilogy. Titled P.S. I Still Love You, it sees Lara Jean (LJ) and Peter attempt to make their now-real relationship work. Of course, LJ’s letters come back to haunt her once more, as John Ambrose did, in fact, receive his letter and it looks like he’s ready to woo his lady.

With LJ and Peter’s relationship still so new, it’s possible that this could put a spanner in the works for the two of them. We all hope that the two will be able to make it work — and LJ doesn’t break Peter’s heart like he asked if she would do — but who knows what’s to come in the next movie (unless you’ve read the books, of course).

So far, this is the only recasting for roles and an explanation hasn’t been given. Lana Condor and Noah Centineo are definitely coming back for the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel, which is a good thing because the movie worked so well because of their chemistry on screen. Hopefully, there will be a third movie to cover the final book in the trilogy, Always and Forever, Lara Jean.
