Stranger Things is returning to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios
It’s official! The Stranger Things twitter account has announced they will be returning to Universal Studios theme park for Halloween Horror Nights 2019.
It’s been announced that Stranger Things will be returning to Halloween Horror Nights which will begin in September.
The Stranger Things team announced on Twitter with a picture and a nod to the 80’s favorite horror movie The Poltergeist 2 statement “We’re baaaack.”
Anyone who has a love of horror films will realize the show is heavily influenced by classic horror films and inundated with 80’s culture. That makes this incredibly fitting of a twitter post for the team.
The Halloween Horror Nights is an annual event hosted by Universal Studios where they transform the typical theme park into a terrifying event that starts as soon as the sun goes down and carries on late into the night. The theme park will take many original ideas and turn them into haunted house walkthroughs, as well as using pop culture horror themed haunted houses. They will also scatter the walkways with scare zones where some sort of terrifying thing will take hold on their area to scare the pants of guests as they walk through.

I feel like I don’t even really have to explain much about Stranger Things, but for the sake of those that don’t fully follow the Netflix Original series, I will say the show is now entering its third season. The first two seasons are available to stream on Netflix right now, so stop reading this and flip it on the computer/TV or whatever device you use to watch Netflix.
Stranger Things pays homage to classic horror films and is set in the 80’s. It’s riddled with pop culture references, but it avoids the cash grab aspect. It’s able to play up the horror stylings of H.P. Lovecraft and his Eldritch horrors, as well as doing the child adventure that is known from films like Stand By Me and The Goonies. The child actors are incredible for any age and help fuel an incredibly fun adventure. The series is set to go for only four seasons.
The second coming of Stranger Things to Halloween Horror Nights will cover more of the second and third season of the show. Last year’s haunted house proved to be the most popular haunted house at the theme park and mainly covered the first season of the show.
All in all, the return of Stranger Things to Universal Studios is a genius marketing tactic that will help both parties get more exposure.
