Amelia and Link is the next Grey’s Anatomy ship we can’t get enough of. Here’s our recap of Grey’s Anatomy season 15, episode 18, “Add It Up.”
Grey’s Anatomy has introduced a new dynamic between Link and Amelia, and I have to say I am so here for it. They have this adorable nature about them and I can see this forming into a proper relationship down the road. Just something about it gives me the feels, but let’s see what happens! It is Amelia, after all.
Maggie is all about the zen and peace in this episode of Grey’s Anatomy as she wants to create a more calming environment for patients before and after surgery. She has set up “mood rooms” to simulate an area where patients can go and relax, one of which includes a blue-lit room she calls Garden of Eden. There is also a game room which quickly becomes the most popular room–I mean come on, it has Tetris!
While Grey’s Anatomy might be trying to create new ships, there is some turbulence between DeLuca and Meredith after the whole “his dad came and tried to force a medical miracle”. But Meredith’s bae isn’t exactly in the mood to talk and does what he can to avoid her. Why he’s doing this we’re not entirely sure, but he’s definitely goofing big time.
In the awkward love triangle world of Koracick, Teddy, and Owen, things are interesting, to say the least. Owen plans on joining Teddy during her birthing class, however, she fails to mention Koracick will be there too. But before Teddy can get to the class, she starts having some stomach pains which she ignores at first. But when the pain got too much to bear, Teddy knew she had to get some help. Interestingly enough, she doesn’t call Koracick to come to be with her.
Maggie catches on to Amelia’s new and improved mood while the two of them hang out in the blue room and learns that Amelia hooked up with someone at the conference. Maggie figures out who this mystery man is when she talks to Link and learns that he too was at a conference. And while Amelia tries to put her foot down and say that they will never hook up again, she finds herself having to work alongside Link on a patient. Oh man, this is going to be fun.
Jo is MIA in this episode as she made the decision to go find her mother, which doesn’t seem to end well. We’re not sure what happened but at the very end of the episode, she is laying upset on their bed, and it doesn’t look like she’s doing okay at all. Alex is worried about where his beautiful wife is as she has not answered him so he decides to help out Meredith with her relationship problems instead. She confesses she’s giving DeLuca space because he’s being weird and more importantly, he’s working on a complicated case.
There’s no end to DeLuca’s deteriorating mood because what was meant to be exciting news for his patient ends up being devastating. His young patient was supposed to get surgery, but when her glucose levels shot up, it rendered her unable to get the surgery, at least the levels were in control. It turns out the young girl had some sweets and intended on spiking her levels because she didn’t want to go to school, she’d rather stay at the hospital.
The friction between Alex and DeLuca worsens as DeLuca gets super emotional about the patient and asks the mother to force the surgery on her daughter. After learning what DeLuca tried to do, Alex is extremely pissed off (and with good reason) and just as he goes to fire DeLuca, he catches him talking to the young patient about how he was bullied as well. Plus, being a nerd is cool and DeLuca points out that all of them are nerds together. Side note: This girl was a math genius and could solve any problem within seconds.

The tension between Amelia and Link has to take a backseat because their mutual patient goes from improving to declining during the surgery. While Amelia is doing her neuro thing, their patient starts to lose feeling in her arms and legs which causes her to become paralyzed from her neck down. In Link and Amelia’s defense, they did all they could do to help out but their efforts weren’t enough. And with the burden of a failed surgery upon them, they both did the one thing they knew how–get some “pain relief”.
When Teddy starts to experience pains, Owen is paged and immediately rushes to be by her side. Carina came to the rescue by tilting Teddy’s bed back, and Owen decided to do the same in solidarity. Their little family hangout session is interrupted when Koracick comes through the door and finds them all cozied up. It’s pretty awkward considering he was waiting around in the class by himself.
And that’s about all it takes to piss Koracick off and get in Owen’s face about fighting for Teddy. He loves her and will fight Owen if he has to for her. You go, boy! And his aggressiveness worked because as he watched Teddy and Koracick from a distance, he decided not to bug them and walked away.
Koracick isn’t the only one standing his ground because after realizing he’s been a jerk, DeLuca invites Meredith over for dinner. She’s not willing to put up with his crap and says that if he is going to ignore her then she’s done with the relationship. He confesses it’s because of the situation with his dad and he didn’t realize how bad he felt until after the fact. Some apologies and resisting later, the two make up and go right back to normal.
Sigh, and let’s not forget that look on Jo’s face just as the episode closes out. What did she find when she found her mom? The promos for the next episode of Grey’s Anatomy is sure to be an emotional one.
